What is Project Freedom?
Project Freedom is a non-profit organization that develops and operates housing programs so that individuals with disabilities can live independently. The Trenton facility offering 43 single and 9 double bedroom apartments is an accessible and environmentally friendly gated building in collaboration with Trent Center Senior Living Community.
Environment friendly: The building has solar panels to help generate electricity for common area lighting, and has also received aid from the State of New Jersey Green Homes Program to use "green" materials for finishes like carpet, floor tiles, kitchen cabinets, ceiling tiles etc.
Barrier-free living with access to extended support: Project Freedom is not a nursing home, assisted living or a medical facility and does not provide supervision or personal assistance. However, Trent Center gives you access to senior living resources that provide valuable assistance with housekeeping and recreational activities at affordable rates.
Subsidized lease arrangements: The apartments are administered through a lease and applicants must have an annual income under $22,000 for a single person to be considered. Although these apartments are specially designed to allow independence for people (18 to 55 years) using wheelchairs and they are given first preference, individuals and seniors with other disabilities are also welcome here.
Through its East and West Building facilities, and especially Project Freedom, Trent Center provides a warm and vibrant senior living home to seniors of all communities. Our comfortable living arrangements with access to personalized assistance allow our elderly in New Jersey and Pennsylvania to actively pursue their independent lifestyles.
