Our commitment to providing the maximum senior services at a minimal cost has drawn appreciation and support both from local individuals and businesses as well as the New Jersey and National Governments.
New Green Retrofit Grant in 2010! Trent Center East is scheduled to receive $2,300,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to renovate the building with a new roof, paint and carpet hallways, new kitchens and fan coils in resident apartments, new toilets and other water saving devices to reduce water usage, a new boiler, new circulating pumps, and a new energy management system to reduce electric usage. Trent Center East is the only HUD sponsored building in the State of New Jersey to receive this energy and environmental improvement Grant, and one of only 250 buildings nationwide to receive stimulus money from HUD. Work is expected to begin September 1 and completed in the Spring of 2011.
The top honors that we received in 2003 from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the form of the Innovative Social Services Award and the Governor's Housing Award for Innovative Social Service Programming for our Executive Director, Lionel Kier indicates that we have pioneered many initiatives and services in the senior living homes industry.
Moreover Trent Center West is one of only 65 facilities in New Jersey that receives State funding through the Congregated Housing Services Program while Trent Center East, a HUD Section 202 Program Building is one of only two facilities in the state to receive federal funding.
Perhaps our greatest achievement is the Assisted Living Conversion Grant that will help us convert 17 elderly units in Trent Center East to assisted living ones by November 2009. Now our frail residents will be provided support services through a multitude of community agencies and the State of New Jersey.
